We're changing the way South Asian fashion is worn.
Tejori started with a simple question: Why are we spending so much on clothes we wear so little?
I'd seen it in my own wardrobe and in the wardrobes around me, beautiful sarees, lehengas, shalwar kameez and wedding outfits bought for one occasion, then carefully packed away.
Not because they weren't loved.
Because there was nowhere obvious, trusted and culturally relevant to pass them on or an event to wear them again to.
So I built Tejori.
More than resale
Tejori is a South Asian fashion marketplace, but the bigger idea is changing how we think about what we buy, wear and keep.
South Asian clothing has always had value beyond fashion. There is craftsmanship, culture, family, celebration and often a significant financial investment behind every outfit.
Yet our relationship with occasionwear can encourage a high-spend, low-wear culture. The expectation of something new for every wedding, Eid, Diwali, party or celebration IS REAL!
We want to challenge that.
Not by telling people to buy less.
But by making it easier to wear what already exists more.
Building trust around pre-loved
For many South Asian families, pre-loved clothing has traditionally carried a stigma. Wearing something second-hand can feel very different from finding a great pre-loved piece on a mainstream resale platform.
We believe that needs to change.
Tejori is being built around trust, transparency and the realities of South Asian fashion, creating a place where buying pre-loved can feel exciting, desirable and normal, showcasing this through accessibility, how we tell our story, brand collaborations and in-person events.
Because pre-loved shouldn't mean compromising on style, culture or quality.
A new generation is changing the conversation
The way we think about second-hand fashion is changing.
Gen Z has grown up with thrifting, resale and rewear becoming part of mainstream fashion culture. At the same time, the cost of living is making people think harder about where their money goes and how much value they get from what they buy.
For South Asian consumers, that creates an opportunity to rethink occasionwear too.
Why buy something new for one event when someone else's wardrobe might already have exactly what you're looking for?
And why leave a beautiful outfit sitting unworn when someone else could love it next?
Giving South Asian fashion a place in the circular economy
There is a gap in the data around South Asian fashion.
We talk about textile waste at a global and national level, but we know far less about what happens specifically to South Asian clothing, how often it is reworn, resold, donated, recycled or discarded.
Tejori wants to help change that.
As our marketplace grows, we're working towards capturing data that can help build a clearer picture of the lifecycle of South Asian clothing and contribute to a better understanding of ethnicity-specific reuse and recycling behaviour.
Because if we want to change the system, we need better evidence of what is actually happening.
What we're building
Tejori is not just a place to sell an old Asian outfit.
We're building a platform that can help keep South Asian fashion in circulation for longer by making ethnic fashion accessible and affordable for everyone, connecting wardrobes, shoppers, brands and eventually the wider fashion industry.
From resale and rewear to data, education and industry collaboration, our ambition is bigger than one marketplace.
We're here to make wearing it again feel just as good as buying it new.
This is Tejori. South Asian fashion, made to go further.
